TSMC and Globalfoundries have agreed to cease all patent litigation. Instead, the contract chip manufacturers will cross-license each other’s existing patents, as well as those that will be filed during the next ten years. “This resolution guarantees GF and TSMC freedom to operate and ensures that their respective customers will continue to have access to each foundry’s complete array of technologies and services,” the companies say in a joint statement.

Globalfoundries filed lawsuits against TSMC and 19 of its customers in late August, claiming infringement on 16 patents. The Taiwanese countersued one month later.
