Based on a sampling of the guidance provided by 21 companies, IC Insights expects semiconductor sales to decline 5 percent in the second quarter of 2020, compared to the preceding quarter. Six companies expect their sales to rise, all by a single-digit percentage. The company with the most positive outlook (+6 percent) is Mediatek, which cites increasing demand for its 5G chipsets. On the opposite end of the spectrum, double-digit declines are anticipated by Europe’s three largest IC suppliers, as well as TI and Skyworks. NXP (-11 percent) has been hit hard by car factories shutting operations due to lockdown measures.
