Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) and Fontys University of Applied Sciences have entered into a new partnership. While meeting with Ingrid van Engelshoven, the Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, the two Eindhoven-based education institutions signed an agreement to coordinate and optimize student recruitment and the switching options, in addition to their previously-established joint-technical-study program. With this covenant, the partners aim to offer students the best possible education and provide the Brainport region with the highly trained engineers that are needed badly.
In this partnership, TUE and Fontys will coordinate course information and support for students ‘at the gate’, so that they start their higher education at the right place. ‘After the gate’, the partners will harmonize the study programs, so that students will be able to switch smoothly from one institution to another, especially in the first year as they start the feeling-out process of the programs. With this, the two institutions align themselves with the ambitions of the Ministry’s recent Strategic Agenda for Higher Education. “This collaboration between Fontys and TUE, with an important role for industry, is of enormous importance for the region,” says Minister Van Engelshoven. “It contributes to lowering the shortage of higher educated technical staff, and it means more opportunities for students.”
