Sioux precedes Intel to Magdeburg

Sioux Technologies is investing 20-30 million euros in a new German R&D site in Barleben, just north of Magdeburg. In October, the Eindhoven-based company is opening a temporary office in the Ostfalen Technology Park pending the construction of a new 5,000 m² building nearby. It aims to start with 100 people and ultimately grow to 300 specialists from all technical disciplines, developing products for the semiconductor industry.

With ASML as a key customer, Sioux has chosen Barleben because of its proximity to the new Intel fab, which is planned just south of Magdeburg. The anticipated arrival of the American chip giant is expected to attract many more businesses and by setting up shop this year already, the Dutch company wants to beat them to the punch on the labor market. “We’re proud to be among the first to establish ourselves in Saxony-Anhalt’s Intel technology environment, ahead of the great influx,” says Sioux CEO Leon Giesen. “We’re very grateful for the excellent collaboration with the federal government and the higher education institutions in the region.”

The new building will offer high-quality office, workroom and cleanroom space. Construction is scheduled to start in Q1 2024. Commissioning is planned for Q1 2025.
