Signify announced the addition of animal-centric lighting specialists Once and ILOX to their portfolio, as the illumination experts look to expand their reach in the realm of agriculture. The former Philips Lighting division believes that these customized lighting systems not only offer a real potential to capture part of the growth in this market but also to improve the quality of life for livestock, which will lead to healthier and enhanced production for farmers. Once, from Plymouth, Minnesota, was founded in 2009 and signed an agreement to acquire Germany-based ILOX in 2018, adding sales and service capabilities outside the US.

According to Signify’s agricultural business leader, Bill Bien, “With this acquisition, we add know-how, technology and expertise in animal lighting that complements ours in horticulture lighting. It’s the next step in the development of our agriculture business, which addresses the global need for feeding the world’s growing population.”
