Chinese packaging material supplier BSN placed an order at PragmatIC for its ConnectIC product line of RFID labels. BSN intends to deploy the flexible electronic tags as anti-counterfeit solutions for fast-moving consumers goods and online sales, among other things. Until recently, the price of RFID technology was considered too high for such mass-markets. Instead, it was primarily used as brand protection for luxury items such as expensive whiskey and perfume. “PragmatIC’s ultra-low-cost technology will enable us to roll out solutions to a much wider range of market segments than possible with conventional electronics,” said Philip Calderbank, RFID Consultant at BSN.
