NXP tops list of biggest MCU suppliers

NXP comes out on top in IC Insights’ ranking of the world’s largest suppliers of microcontroller units (MCUs) in 2021. With MCU-derived revenue growing 27 percent year-over-year to 3.8 billion dollars, the Eindhoven-headquartered company slightly widened its lead over Microchip in second place. Renesas, STMicroelectronics and Infineon claim third, fourth and fifth place, respectively. Together, these companies account for 82 percent of worldwide MCU sales, which surged to a record-high of 20.2 billion dollars last year.
