NXP teams up with Ferrari for better batteries

NXP is a partner in a new battery research outfit started by Ferrari and run by the University of Bologna. The E-Cell Lab focuses on preparing and testing new materials for lithium-ion battery cells, ultimately aiming to boost the performance of the batteries assembled at the carmaker’s plant in Maranello. The findings will be shared with NXP, which is a technology partner and supporter of the project.

“Close collaboration across industry and academia allows us to accelerate the research on safe, efficient and sustainable battery innovations significantly,” says Jens Hinrichsen, general manager of the Advanced Analog business unit at NXP. “Through the combined efforts of NXP, Ferrari and the University of Bologna, we expect to set new benchmarks for performance and sustainability to reach our common goal of a greener, brighter future.”
