NXP favors semiconductor manufacturing in India
NXP will urge its foundry partners to set up manufacturing operations in India, CEO Kurt Sievers told The Economic Times following a meeting with Prime Minister Modi last week. “We believe in the geopolitical context, currently India should be a very neutral and democratic place to have global manufacturing,” he said. “I’ll be very vocal and supportive to our manufacturing partners to strongly consider India.”
Sievers also expressed NXP’s support for expanding India’s semiconductor ecosystem more generally. The Eindhoven-headquartered company is looking to add to its already sizable R&D operations in the country. Currently, the company has four facilities around India, employing about 4,000 engineers.
