US-based Mini-Circuits has expanded its amplifier design capabilities with the addition of experts from Nijmegen and Rhode Island that were made redundant by Macom last June. They’re forming a new design engineering group that will be based in Lincoln, RI, with a satellite office at the Dutch city’s Novio Tech Campus. The team will be dedicated to developing high-power amplifiers up to and beyond 1 kW through 8 GHz.
Founded in 1968, Mini-Circuits is a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of RF and microwave components and systems with 27 product lines and over 10,000 active models from DC to 86 GHz. The company from Brooklyn, New York, currently offers over 75 standard power amplifier models from 2-100 W covering bandwidths up to 18 GHz. The expansion will build on the popularity of the existing PA line and respond to industry demand with a wide range of new products and capabilities. The Lincoln and Nijmegen offices now number among Mini-Circuits’ 14 design, manufacturing and sales locations spanning nine countries.
The new team will be led by product line manager Korné Vennema. Before joining Mini-Circuits, he held various design engineering, application support and management roles at Philips and NXP. Most recently, until the company pulled the plug, he was the site manager at Macom’s Lincoln, RI, office, responsible for RF power product development and applications within the RF and microwave business unit.
