Most IC product categories won’t see growth this year

Only 8 out of 33 IC product categories are expected to show sales growth this year, expects IC Insights. Last year, 22 categories experienced growth, of which 16 strongly (10 percent or more). Only three types of chips fall into this high-growth tier in 2019: Industrial/Other-Special purpose logic (+38 percent), Display Drivers (19 percent) and Programmable logic Devices (10 percent). At the other end of the spectrum are the memories DRAM (-38 percent), NAND Flash (-32 percent) and SRAM (-18 percent). IC Insights expects the IC market as a whole to contract 15 percent this year.
