TNO-ESI has appointed Masoud Dorosti as its director of science and operations. Per 1 March, he’s the successor of Wouter Leibbrandt, who on 1 January of this year moved up to head the new overarching TNO business segment Digital Systems. Dorosti’s appointment completes ESI’s management team, which has been completely overhauled in a short period of time and further consists of business director Jacco Wesselius and deputy research manager Ronald Begeer.

Dorosti joined TNO-ESI in 2022 as a program manager. With his background in the semiconductor industry and at ASML, he has a strong affinity with the high-tech industry. In his new role, he’s responsible for the scientific and operational steering of ESI and strengthening the research programs with university partners. Wesselius’ focus is on the programs and roadmaps implemented alongside partner companies. Begeer is mainly concentrating on the resource management of ESI’s 60 employees.

TNO Digital Systems will encompass both ESI as well as new knowledge centers, each focusing on a particular societal application domain. Often, as in the high-tech industry, digitalization is both a solution to and a source of complexity in these systems. The first new center, now under development, targets the energy transition under the working title Digital Transition in Energy Systems (DTES).
