Lithium Werks to work together with UT after all

Lithium Werks will collaborate with the University of Twente (UT) after all, U-Today reports (link in Dutch). Last year, the American battery manufacturer announced its intentions (link in Dutch) to start a large research campus in the region, which would cultivate close ties with the university. However, when Dutch CEO Kees Koolen unexpectedly left Lithium Werks a few months later, the campus and collaboration were swiped off the table.

Lithium Werks won’t leave the region entirely, however. And it will work together with the UT, chairman Victor van der Chijs told U-Today, although not nearly on the scale that was initially envisaged. Nonetheless, it means the company won’t have to immediately repay the 7.5 million euro loan the local authorities granted for the original plan.
