Industrial clean energy specialist Koolen Industries has announced the launch of Smart Grid, a new energy storage company. Smart Grid is a spinoff of the former Koolen-invested lithium battery producer Super B. The announcement comes merely two weeks after Koolen announced it was teaming up with EIT InnoEnergy to invest in more clean-tech startups.

Smart Grid’s energy storage solution, which employs smart software to connect multiple batters to harness energy from renewable resources, will be utilized to deliver integrated large-scale energy storage systems for Koolen’s fast-growing international client base. “Smart Grid has emerged in response to a desperate need for a one-stop solution to the increasingly complex challenges faced by companies that aren’t only participating in, but also contributing to and driving, a rapid and essential transition to renewable energy,” says Smart Grid CEO and Koolen Industries CTO, Gerben Hilboldt.
