With immediate effect, Jorge Solis has been appointed the new chief executive officer of Punch Powertrain, the Sint-Truiden-based supplier of automotive powertrain and transmission technology. He’s the successor of Cor van Otterloo, who passed away earlier this year (link in Dutch). Solis will direct an ambitious transformation program to ensure the Belgian company delivers its differentiated product portfolio consistently to customers through an agile, lean and fully integrated global supply chain.
“With nearly three decades of commercial and operational experience gained through diverse roles in the global automotive sector, Solis’s breadth of industry knowledge combined with his powerful blend of leadership vision, enterprise turnaround experience and strong fit with our company’s culture stood out among a field of strong candidates considered by the board,” says board of directors chairman Xiong Xuqiang.

After the passing of former CEO Van Otterloo, fellow board member Barend Braaksma provided interim support for several months. “With the team now able to push forward once again under Solis’s executive leadership, we anticipate a strong drive to realize higher value for customers while generating increased productivity throughout Punch Powertrain’s diversified operations,” Xuqiang added.
