Fontys president Nienke Meijer steps down at the end of 2019

Nienke Meijer will resign as president of the executive board of Fontys University of Applied Sciences at the end of this year. She’s served for ten years in total, first as a board member and later as the chairman. Through these years, she became the face of Fontys, both within and outside of the organization. The supervisory board has yet to determine a successor.

Under Meijer’s leadership, Fontys developed from a broad university of applied sciences to a knowledge institution that holds a central position in the regional ecosystem. The 2014 Female Executive of the Year states now is the time for her to take the next step. She’s decided to focus on her advisory tasks (AWTI, Stichting Volkskrant), guest teacher positions and committees. Furthermore, she’s initiating several projects concerning technology, personal development, social cohesion and digital and technical skills for both youth and adults.
