ASM International is still not suffering from the downturn in the memory segment or from uncertainties in the global economy. Driven by solid demand in the logic/foundry segment, the equipment maker sequentially increased sales 4 percent to a record 271 million euros in the third quarter. The operational profit increased by 4 million to 51 million euros and orders are up 8 percent to 292 million euros as well. Looking forward, CEO Chuck del Prado expects to further increase sales and bookings, making for a year in which ASMI will strongly outperform the wafer equipment market.
