Despite some pandemic-related operating challenges, ASM International reported another solid quarter. Q2 sales came to 342 million euros, up 5 percent sequentially and 32 percent above Q2 last year (excluding proceeds from a patent settlement in that period). ASMI’s order intake decreased from 333.5 million euros in Q1 to 298 million euros in Q2.

“Supply chain and logistical conditions resulted in operating challenges during Q2, but started to improve towards the end of the quarter as lock-down measures and transport restrictions have gradually been lifted in especially Asia Pacific and Europe. The sales level was driven by continuous high demand in the logic/foundry segment,” commented newly appointed CEO Benjamin Loh.

ASMI is expecting lower sales and order intake for the next quarter, guiding 300-320 million euros in sales and an order intake of 280-300 million euros. The company still expects to outgrow the wafer equipment market in 2020.
