Ericsson and Vodafoneziggo, together with Brainport Development and the High Tech Campus, have opened the 5G Hub in Eindhoven. Located at the HTC, the hub is meant for companies, startups, governmental bodies and students to collaboratively put 5G into practice. Its innovation program focuses on the themes health, entertainment, business, sports and culture.
Over the next years, the 5G Hub should yield new ideas and applications, eg in connection to photonics, blockchain and machine learning. The hub has been equipped with 3.5 GHz testing technology and offers high-speed and ultrashort response times. For maximum capacity, this can be combined with existing 4G frequency bands.

By the end of 2020, the 5G Hub hopes to have at least six organizations working on new applications. So far, about 30 parties have shown interest in collaborating.
